White House considers economist for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac watchdog

The White House has not yet decided who to nominate as the next director of theFederal Housing Finance Agency, the regulator of mortgage-finance companiesFannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but economist Mark Zandi has emerged as a leading candidate, The Wall Street Journal reported.
